WereportonaSuzakuobservationofthenearbySeyfert2galaxyNGC4388.Theoverallspectrumiswelldescribedbythecombinationofstronglyabsorbedpower-lawplusthinthermalplasmaemission,aswellaspreviousobservations.Thankstowell-calibratedinstrumentsandalowbackgroundlevel,Suzakumeasuredthebroad-bandX-rayspectramorepreciselythanever,andenabledustoprobethephysicalstructureofthenuclearregion.Inaddition,atimevariabilityhavingafactorof1.5withahalf-daytimescalewasfounduptoabove10keV.ThecenterenergyandtheK$$eta$$/K$$alpha$$ratioofthenarrowFe-Kline,togetherwithlesstimevariability,indicatethatthefluorescentmaterialisfarfromtheblackhole.Aspectralhumparoundthe30-40keVband,togetherwithaComptonshoulderoftheFe-Kline,requiresasignificantcontributionofthereflectioncomponent.Thisisalsoconsistentwithasmalleramplitudeoftimevariabilityinahigherenergyband.AlargecontributionofthereflectioncomponentwasnotobservedbytheCGRO/OSSEandBeppoSAX,suggestingthatNGC4388hadbeeninahigherfluxstate,andthatSuzakuobserveditslightecho.AHe-likeFe-K$$alpha$$absorptionlinewasalsodetected,indicatingtheexistenceofhighlyionizedplasma.
