WeanalyzedtheASCAX-raydataof40nearbyclustersofgalaxies,whoseintracluster-mediumtemperaturedistributesintherangeof0.9a€“10keV.WemeasuredtheSiandFeabundancesoftheintraclustermedium,spatiallyaveragingovereachcluster,butexcludingthecentrala??0.15h50a?’1Mpcregioninordertoavoidanypossibleabundancegradientsandcomplextemperaturestructures.TheFeabundancesoftheseclustersare0.2a€“0.3solar,withonlyweakdependenceonthetemperatureoftheintraclustermedium,henceontheclusterrichness.Incontrast,theSiabundanceisobservedtoincreasefrom0.3to0.6a€“0.7solarfromthepoorertoricherclusters.Theseresultssuggestthatthesupernovaeofbothtype-Iaandtype-IIsignificantlycontributetothemetalenrichmentoftheintraclustermedium,withtherelativecontributionoftype-IIsupernovaeincreasingtowardsricherclusters.Wesuggestapossibilitythataconsiderablefractionoftype-IIsupernovaproductsescapedfrompoorersystems.
