LowerlimitstotheintraclustermagneticfieldarederivedfrommodelingbroadbandX-rayspectraof6galaxyclusterswithradiohalos(A401,A754,A1367,Coma=A1656,A2256,andA2319).The0.7a€“10keVspectraforallclusterswereobtainedwiththeAdvancedSatelliteforCosmologyandAstrophysics(ASCA)GasImagingSpectrometer(GIS).ForA401,A754,A1367,andA1656,datafromtheHEAO1-A2HighEnergyDetector(HED)(2a€“60keV)wasincludedinajointfittofurtherconstraintheallowednon-thermalcomponent.Upperlimitstothenon-thermalX-rayemissionareafactorofa??10improvementoverpreviousvalues.Lowerlimitstotheaveragemagneticfieldderivedfromtheseupperlimitsandtheradiospectralparametersrangefrom0.08a€“0.30??G.Aseedintraclusterfieldamplifiedbyturbulencefromgalaxymotionthroughtheintraclustermediumshouldhaveanaveragevalueintherangea??0.1a€“0.2,thusthelackofanydetectionsmakesitunlikelythatfieldamplificationisduetogalaxywakes.Inaddition,alloftheseclustershaveanasymmetricsurfacebrightnessdistributionwhileseveralalsohaveX-rayspectroscopicevidenceofamerger.Wesuggestthatclustermergersratherthangalaxywakesarethesourceofthemagneticfieldamplification.
