Anear-infraredspectroscopicobservationofahigh-redshiftquasar,PKS0201+113,madewiththeOH-airglowsuppressorspectrograph(OHS)ispresented.ThisquasarisknowntohaveadampedLy?±systeminthelineofsight.Distinctivecharacteristicsshowninthelow-resolutionspectrumofthequasarintheJ-andH-bandsarealargeredshiftdifferencebetweentheMgIIemissionlineandhigh-excitationlines,thepresenceofFeIIemissionfeaturesandapossiblyreddenedcontinuumspectrum.ThedifferenceinthevelocitybetweentheCIVandMgIIlinesisconsistentwithasimplepictureoftheseparateddistributionofbroadlineregionsmadeoftworegions:i)high-excitedcloudshavingahighoutflowvelocityandii)relativelyquiescentlow-excitedcloudssurroundingthecentralhotregion.ThepresenceofFeIIemissionimpliesthatthemetalicityofthecentralenvironmentalgasofthehigh-redshiftquasarisstillsimilartothatoflow-redshiftquasars.AsofteningofthespectralslopetowardshortwavelengthscouldbeexplainedifwetakereddeningbythedampedLy?±systemintoaccount.
