Weproposeanewmethodforblackholespinmeasurement.Inthismethod,weconsideragasbloborringfallingontoablackholefromthemarginallystableorbit,keepingitsinitialorbitalangularmomentum.WecalculatethegasmotionandphotontrajectoriesintheKerrspace-timeand,assumingthatthegasbloborringemitsmonochromaticradiation,carefullyexaminehowitisobservedbyadistantobserver.Thelightcurveoftheorbitinggasblobiscomposedofmanypeaksbecauseofperiodicenhancementofthefluxduetothegravitationallensingandbeamingeffects.Further,theintensityofeachpeakfirstgraduallyincreaseswithtimeduetothefocusingeffectaroundthephotoncircularorbitandthenrapidlydecreasesduetothegravitationalredshift,asthegasblobapproachestheeventhorizon.Thelightcurveofthegasringisequivalenttoasuperpositionofthoseoftheblobswithvariousinitialorbitalphases,andsoitiscontinuousandwithnopeaks.Thefluxfirstgraduallyincreasesandthenrapidlydecays,asintheblobmodel.Thefluxvariationtimescaledependsontheblackholespinandisindependentoftheinclinationangle,whiletime-averagedfrequencyshifthasdependenceonbotheffects.Wecanthus,inprinciple,determinespinandinclinationanglefromobservations.Theobservationalimplicationsandfutureissuesarebrieflydiscussed.
