ASCAdiscoveredanextendedsourceintheconstellationScutum.TheX-raymorphologyisanellipticalshapeelongatedfromnorthtosouthwithameandiameterofabout$${10{}^{mathrm{prime}}}$$.Theimagecenterislocatedat$$mathrm{RA}_{2000}$$=$${18{}^{mathrm{h}}43{}^{mathrm{m}}53{}^{mathrm{s}}}$$,$$mathrm{DEC}_{2000}$$=$$-{03{}^{mathrm{circ}}52{}^{mathrm{prime}}55{}^{mathrm{primeprime}}}$$(hereafter,AXJ1843.8a€“0352).ThenorthandsouthrimsofAXJ1843.8a€“0352areassociatedwithnon-thermalradiosourcesCandFoftheG28.6a€“0.1complex(Helfandetal.1989,AAA$$49.125.029$$).TheX-rayspectrumwasfittedwithamodelofeitherathinthermalplasmainnon-equilibriumionizationofatemperature5.4keVorapower-lawofphotonindex2.1.Theabsorptioncolumnis$$(2.4$$-$$4.0) imes10^{22}mathrm{cm}^{-2}$$,whichprobablyplacesthissourceintheScutumarm.Withareasonabledistanceassumptionofabout7kpc,weestimatethemeandiameterandX-rayluminositytobe$$sim20,mathrm{pc}$$and$$sim3 imes10^{34},mathrm{erg},mathrm{s}^{-1}$$,respectively.AlthoughaSedovsolutionforathinthermalplasmamodelgivesparametersofayoungshell-likeSNR,nostrongemissionlinesarefoundwiththemetalabundancesbeing$$sim$$solar.Thus,amorelikelyscenarioforboththeradioandX-rayspectraandthemorphologiesisthatAXJ1843.8a€“0352isashell-likeSNRwhichpredominantlyemitssynchrotronX-rays.
