Thefragmentationanddynamicsofpancake-likecollapsedlayersarediscussed.Thefragmentationtheoryforanisothermalgaslayerisextendedtothecaseofthetransverseexpansionorcontractionofalayerwithtwocomponents.Theexpansionofalayersuppressesthegrowthofaperturbationandthecontractionenhancestheperturbation.Itisshownthatthegrowthrateincreasesexponentiallywiththedecelerationofexpansion.Thecriticalwavenumberfortheinstabilityisalmostconstantforvariousratesoftheexpansion.Thelinearinteractionofaperturbationbetweenthecooledlayerandahotlayercomposedofdarkmatterchangesthegrowthrate.Thegrowthrateofthecooledlayerissuperiortothemaximumvalueofthegrowthrateinisolatedcaseswhenthescaleheightsofbothlayersarenotsodifferent.Thisfragmentationtheoryisappliedtocosmologicallycollapsedlayersthatwerecalculatedbynumericalsimulations.Thecooledlayersproducedbythecollapsewithtransverseexpansionhavenearlythesamedensityandtemperatureoverawidescalerangeofprimordialdensityfluctuations,??=1a€“20Mpc.Themassoffragmentationisdeterminedbyevaluatingthegrowthtimeoftheperturbationandtheaccretiontimeofthecooledlayer.Thetypicalmassesofthefragmentationaredistributedoveranarrowmassscaleof107a€“8Ma??.Alargedynamicrangeofthecalculation,106a€“8,isrequiredtosimulatethecentralregionofthecollapsedlayerforthefluctuationwavelength,??=10Mpc.Acalculationmethodwithextremelylargedynamicrangeisalsopresented.
