AnimprovedmethodhasbeenutilizedtoestimatetheX-raypowerspectraldensities(PSD)andthevariationtimescalesofthreequasarsintheLockmanHolefield.FivearchivalROSATPSPCdatacoveringatwo-yearrangewereanalyzed.ToestimatePSDfromsparseandunevenly-sampledlightcurves,aforward-methodapproachwithextensiveMonteCarlosimulationswasadopted.Abrokenpower-lawtypePSDwithaconstantPoissonnoisecomponentwasassumedwithabreakfrequency,$$f_mathrm{b}$$.Then,assumingthePSDslope,$$alpha$$,tobe$$-2alpha-1,1/f_mathrm{b}$$wasconstrainedas$$gtrsim$$25daysforoneobject,whiletheconstraintsontheothertwoobjectswereveryweak.Thelong-timescaleoftheoneobjectisconsistentwiththeviewthatluminousAGNshostmassiveblackholes.
