FR-IradiogalaxiesNGC315andNGC4261wereobservedinX-rayswithASCAfor$$sim37~mathrm{ks}$$and$$sim54~mathrm{ks}$$,respectively.HardX-rayemissionfromapoint-likesourceatthenucleuswasdetectedata2a€“10a€‰keVluminosityof$$3.1 imes10^{41}$$and$$9.2 imes10^{40}~mathrm{erg}~mathrm{s}^{-1}$$,respectively,forassumeddistancesof66Mpcand29Mpc(for$$H_0=75~mathrm{km}~mathrm{s}^{-1}~mathrm{Mpc}^{-1}$$).The2a€“10a€‰keVspectraofNGC315andNGC4261werebothfittedsuccessfullywithapower-lawofphotonindex$$2.02pm0.34$$and$$1.45pm0.11$$,respectively,plusemissionfromhotgas.TheNGC315nucleusismildlyabsorbed.NoX-rayvariabilitywasdetectedfromeitherobject,withtypicalupperlimitsofseveraltenspercent.Theseresultsimplythepresenceofalow-luminosityactivegalacticnucleusinbothgalaxies,andreconfirmthepreviousrecognitionthattheFR-InucleiaresignificantlylessX-rayluminousthantheFR-IIones.
