Wereportontheresultsofopticala€“near-infraredphotopolarimetricobservationsofBLLacconductedfrom2008to2011.OurobservationsareconsistentwithpaststudiesinwhichthebehaviorofthepolarizationofBLLaccouldbeunderstoodwithtwocomponents:shortflareswhosepolarizationanglesrandomlychange,andalong-livedcomponent.Inaddition,wedetectedagraduallydecreasingtrendinthetotalflux,thepolarizedflux,andthepolarizationdegreewithoutalargevariationinthepolarizationanglefrom2008tomid-2009.Theseresultssuggestthatthelong-livedcomponentdecayedfrom2008tomid-2009.Weproposethatthelong-livedcomponentisnotstationary,butisprobablyvariablewithatime-scaleofyears.Wefoundnochangeintheactivityoftheshortflaresin2008and2009,whenthelong-livedcomponentwasstrongandweak,respectively.Furthermore,therewerenocleardifferencesinthemeancolorandthedistributionofthepolarizationangleoftheshortflaresfrom2008to2009.Thesefactsindicatethattheemittingregionofthelong-termcomponentwasphysicallydisconnectedtothatoftheshortflares.Thecolorofthelong-termcomponentwasbluerthanthatoftheshortflares,indicatingahighersynchrotronpeak-frequency.Thiscouldbeduetoalowefficiencyofsynchrotronand/orComptoncoolingintheemittingregionofthelong-livedcomponent.Thelong-termcomponentispossiblyoriginatedfromarelativelydownstreamregioninthejetwheretheelectrondensityislow,ortheexternalradiationfieldisweak.
