Locallylinearembedding(LLE)isarecentlydevelopeddimensionreductiontechnique.Inthispaper,wedescribehowweappliedLLEtothestellarsubclassclassification.WefoundthatLLEclassifiestheobjectswithdifferentphysicalcharacteristicscorrectly.WethencomparedtheperformanceofLLEwiththatofprincipalcomponentanalysis(PCA)inspectralclassification,andfoundthatLLEdoesbetterthanPCA.WetestedtherobustnessofLLEagainstthechangingofsignal-to-noiseratios(SNRs),andfoundthattheperformanceofLLEisaffectedbytwofactors:changingofSNRsandtherangeofSNRsofthespectradataset.WealsostudiedthevariationofLLEparameters,andfoundthattheexperimentresultsareaffectedbytheparametervariation,butnotsensitive.Finally,usingLLE,welocatedthoseobjectsmisclassifiedbytheSloanDigitalSkySurveypipeline,andestimateditsaccuracyinclassifyingstellarsubclasses.
