WepresenttheobservationsofthereflectionnebulaeIC4954andIC4955regionwiththeInfraredCameraandtheFar-InfraredSurveyor(FIS)onboardtheinfraredastronomicalsatelliteAKARIduringitsperformanceverificationphase.Weobtained7bandimagesfrom7to160$$mu$$mwithhigherspatialresolutionandhighersensitivitiesthanpreviousobservations.Thespatialvariationinthemid-infraredcolorsuggeststhatthestar-formationinIC4954/4955isprogressingfromsouth-westtonorth-east.TheFIS4-banddatafrom65$$mu$$mto160$$mu$$mallowustocorrectlyestimatethetotalinfraredluminosityfromtheregion,whichisaboutonesixthoftheenergyemittedfromtheexistingstellarsources.Fivecandidatesforyoungstellarobjectshavebeendetectedaspointsourcesforthefirsttimeinthe11$$mu$$mimageanditissuggestedthatthatcurrentstar-formationhasbeentriggeredbypreviousstar-formationactivities.Awideareamapofthesizeofabout$$1^circ$$aroundtheIC4954/4955regionwascreatedfromtheAKARImid-infraredAll-SkySurveydata.TogetherwiththeHI21a€‰cmdata,itsuggestsalargehollowstructureofadegreescale,onwhoseedgetheIC4954/4955regionhasbeencreated,indicatingstarformationoverthreegenerationsinlargelydifferentspatialscales.
