Rotation Modulations and Distributions of the Flare Occurrence Rates on the Surface of Five UV Ceti Type Stars

Inthisstudy,weconsideredstellarspots,stellarflares,andalsotherelationbetweenthesetwomagneticproccessesthattakeplaceonUVCetstars.Inaddition,thehypothesisaboutslowflaresdescribedbyGurzadyan(1986Apamp;SS,125,127)wasinvestigated.AllofthesediscussionswerebasedontheresultsofthreeyearsofobservationsofUVCet-typestars:ADLeo,EVLac,V1005Ori,EQPeg,andV1054Oph.Firstofall,theresultsshowthatstellarspotactivityoccursonthestellarsurfaceofEVLac,V1005Ori,andEQPeg,whileADLeodoesnotshowanyshort-termvariabilityandV1054Ophdoesnotexhibitanyvariability.WereportonnewephemeridesforEVLac,V1005Ori,andEQPeg,obtainedfromtime-seriesanalyses.Thephases,computedatintervalsof0.10phaselength,wherethemeanflareoccurenceratestoobtainmaximumamplitude;also,thephasesofrotationalmodulationwerecomparedinordertoinvestigatewhetherthereisanylongitudinalrelationbetweenstellarflaresandspots.Althoughtheresultsshowthatflareeventsarerelatedwithspottedareasonstellarsurfacesduringsomeoftheobservingseasons,wedidnotfindanyclearcorrelationamongthem.Finally,itwastestedwhetherslowflaresarefastflaresoccurringontheoppositesideofthestarsaccordingtothedirectionoftheobservers,asmentionedinahypothesisdevelopedbyGurzadyan(1986).Theflareoccurenceratesrevealthatbothslowandfastflarescanoccurinanyrotationalphases.Theflareoccurenceratesofbothfastandslowflaresvaryinthesamewayalongthelongitudesforallprogramstars.Theseresultsarenotexpectedbasedonthecasementionedinthehypothesis.
