WereportonspatiallyresolvedX-rayspectroscopyofthenorth-easternpartofthemixedmorphologysupernovaremnant(SNR)Wa€‰28withXMM-Newton.TheobservedfieldofviewincludesaprominentandtwistedshellemissionformingtheedgeofthisSNRaswellaspartofthecenter-filledX-rayemissionbrighteningtowardthesouth-westedgeofthefieldofview.Theshellregionspectraareingeneralrepresentedbyanopticallythinthermalplasmaemissionincollisionalionizationequilibriumwithatemperatureofa??a€‰0.3a€‰keVandadensityofa??a€‰10a€‰cma?’3,whichismuchhigherthanthedensityobtainedforinnerparts.Incontrast,wedetectednosignificantX-rayfluxfromoneoftheTeV?3-raypeakswithanupper-limitfluxof2.1???—??10a?’14a€‰erga€‰cma?’2a€‰sa?’1inthe2a€“10a€‰keVband.ThelargefluxratioofTeVtoX-ray,largerthan16,andthespatialcoincidenceofthemolecularcloudandtheTeV?3-rayemissionsiteindicatethattheTeV?3-rayofWa€‰28is?€0-decayemissionoriginatingfromcollisionsbetweenacceleratedprotonsandmolecularcloudprotons.ComparingthespectrumintheTeVbandandtheX-rayupperlimit,weobtainedaweakupperlimitonthemagneticfieldstrengthBa‰21500a€‰??G.
