Weinvestigatedthefar-infraredSEDoftheGalaxyandtheMagellanicCloudsbyusingtheCOBE(COsmicBackgroundExplorer)/DIRBE(DiffuseInfraRedBackgroundExperiment)ZSMA(Zodi-SubtractedMissionAverage)mapsatwavelengthsof60$$,{mumathrm{m}}$$,100$$,{mumathrm{m}}$$,and140$$,{mumathrm{m}}$$.Weanalyzedthreeregions:thegalacticplaneregionwiththegalacticlatitude$$vertbvert5^{circ}$$,theLargeMagellanicCloudregion,andtheSmallMagellanicCloudregion.Becausethedustopticaldepthismuchsmallerinthefar-infraredthaninthevisible,wecouldobservecumulativefar-infraredradiationfromregionswithvariousinterstellarradiationfieldinthelineofsight.Asaconsequenceofconsideringsuchaneffect,wefoundacommonfar-infraredcolorcorrelationbetweenthe140a€“100$$,{mumathrm{m}}$$and100a€“60$$,{mumathrm{m}}$$intensityratiosinallthreegalaxies.Althoughthiscolorcorrelationcannotbeexplainedbyanyexistingmodel,itfitsverywellthefar-infraredcolorofnearbystar-forminggalaxies.
