NewphotometricobservationsandanalysesoftheWUMa-typebinarysystemRTLeonisMinorisarepresented.Aperiodstudywithourfourtimesoflightminimum,includingothereclipsetimesfromtheliterature,suggeststhattheorbitalperiodofthebinarystarisvariable.TheOa€“Ccurvecanbeexplainedasacyclicvariationwithanamplitudeof0:d0049andaperiodof46.7yr.Photometricsolutionswerederivedbyusingthe2003versionoftheWilsona€“Devinneymethod(1971,ApJ,166,605),andabsoluteparametersofthesystemweredetermined.TheresultsindicatethatRTLMiisanambiguousWUMa-typeovercontactsystemforthefollowingreasons:(i)thedepthsofbothminimaarenearlyequal,whichmakesitverydifficulttodistinguishwhetheritbelongstoanA-orW-typesystem;(ii)theprimaryminimainHoffmanna€?slightcurvesareanoccultation,indicatingaW-typesystem,whiletheprimaryminimuminourlightcurveisatransit,suggestinganA-typelightvariation;and(iii)thoughourlightcurveshowsanA-typevariation,thephotometricsolutionsindicateahighersecondarytemperatureofT2=6513K(T1=6400K),makingthebinarysystem,surprisingly,ofW-type.ThesemayindicatethatBinnendijka€?sclassificationbasedontheshapeofthelightcurvecannotrevealthephysicalpropertiesofWUMa-typebinarystarsofthiskind.
