Unveilingtheintergalacticmagneticfield(IGMF)infilamentsofgalaxiesisaveryimportantandchallengingsubjectinmodernastronomy.InordertoprobetheIGMFfromrotationmeasures(RMs)ofextragalacticradiosources,weneedtoseparateRMsduetootheroriginssuchasthesource,interveninggalaxies,andourGalaxy.Inthispaper,wediscussobservationalstrategiesfortheseparationbymeansofFaradaytomography(FaradayRMsynthesis).WeconsideranobservationofasingleradiosourcesuchasaradiogalaxyoraquasarviewedthroughtheGalaxyandthecosmicweb.Wethencomparetheobservationwithanotherobservationofaneighboringsourcewithasmallangularseparation.OursimulationswithsimplemodelsofthesourcessuggestthatitwouldbenoteasytodetecttheRMduetoanIGMFofordera??a€‰1a€‰rada€‰ma?’2,anexpectedvaluefortheIGMFthroughasinglefilament.Contrarytothis,wefindthatanRMofatleasta??a€‰10a€‰rada€‰ma?’2couldbedetectedwiththeSquareKilometreArrayoritspathfinders/precursors,ifweachieveselectionofidealsources.TheseresultswouldbeimprovedifweincorporateddecompositiontechniquessuchasRMCLEANandQU-fitting.WediscussthefeasibilityofthestrategiesforcaseswithcomplexGalacticemissionsaswellaswitheffectsofobservationalnoiseandradiofrequencyinterferences.
