ThefirstfindingofthespinperiodofanaccretingneutronstarinMa€‰31wasrecentlyreported.Theobservedspinperiodis1.2a€‰s,anditshows1.27a€‰dmodulationsduetoorbitalmotion.Fromtheorbitalinformation,themassdonorcouldnotbeagiantmassivestar.Ontheotherhand,itsobservedpropertiesareveryoddasthoseoftypicallow-massX-raybinaries.Inthisstudy,wecomparetheobservedbinaryparameterswiththeoreticalmodelsgivenbyastellarevolutiontrack,andgivearestrictiononthepossiblemassrangeofthedonor.Accordingtothestandardstellarevolutionmodel,thedonorstarshouldbelargerthan1.5??Ma??,whichsuggeststhatthissystemisanewmemberofararecategory,anintermediate-massX-raybinary.Themagneticfieldstrengthoftheneutronstarsuggestedbythespin-up/downtendencyinthissystemsupportsthepossibilityofanintermediate-massdonor.
