Telemedicine is defined as the delivery of health care and the share of medical knowledge over distance usingtelecommunications systems. One of the main purposes of telemedicine is to improve accessibility to specialtyconsultation in remote areas and to reduce the costs of traditional health practices. Telemedicine is used inpreoperative assessment and in anesthesia with positive perceptions by patients. Furthermore the possibility to realizetranscontinental anesthesia, represents the pathway through which geographical barriers will be no longer limiting factorsin high quality health care delivery.
