Streszczenie Wprowadzenie . We wspó?czesnym pi?miennictwie wiele jest definicji zapaleń przyz?bia. W badaniach epidemiologicznych rozpoznanie zapalenia przyz?bia opiera si? na pomiarach g??boko?ci kieszonek, utraty przyczepu ??cznotkankowego i krwawienia dzi?s?owego na sondowanie. Cel pracy . Materia? i metody . Materia? badawczy stanowi?y 303 losowo wybrane w?ród mieszkańców Wroc?awia osoby (160 kobiet i 143 m??czyzn) w wieku 35–44 lat. Wyniki . Wed?ug przyj?tej obecnie w P olsce klasyfikacji klinicznej chorób przyz?bia wyró?niono: 9,6% periodontologicznie zdrowych, 61,9% z zapaleniem dzi?se?, 26,5% z przewlek?ym zapaleniem przyz?bia, 1% z agresywnym zapaleniem przyz?bia i 1% z zapaleniem przyz?bia w przebiegu chorób ogólnych. Wyst?powanie zapalenia przyz?bia wed?ug definicji Page i E ke stwierdzono u 23,1% badanych, w tym u 1,6% posta? ci??k?. Wed?ug definicji Offenbachera et al. zanotowano: 11,9% periodontologicznie zdrowych, 46,8% z zapaleniem dzi?se? i 41,2% z zapaleniem przyz?bia (0,7% z P 1, 22,7% z P 2 i 17,8% z P 3). Wnioski . Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy porównawczej 3 definicji zapalenia przyz?bia najbardziej w?a?ciwy szacunek wyst?powania zapaleń przyz?bia w badaniach epidemiologicznych oddaje kategoryzacja wg Page i E ke. U doros?ych wroc?awian frekwencja ta najbardziej by?a zbli?ona do opisanej we wspó?czesnym pi?miennictwie u doros?ych Australijczyków. Abstract Background . Many definitions of periodontitis have been used in the contemporary literature. In epidemiologic studies the diagnosis of periodontitis is based on the measurements of probing depth, clinical attachment loss and gingival bleeding on probing. Objectives . Determination of the prevalence of periodontitis in the representative sample of adult urban population based on the currently accepted in Poland classification of American Academy of Periodontology from 1999 as well as the periodontitis definitions created by Page and Eke from 2007 and Offenbacher et al. from 2008. Material and Methods . The material consisted of 303 randomly selected residents of Wroc?aw (160 women and 143 men) at the age from 35 to 44 years. In the oral cavity pocket depth (PD), clinical attachment level (CAL) and bleeding on probing (BoP) according to Ainamo and Bay, at four sites around the tooth were evaluated. Selected anamnestic data (presence of systemic diseases and genetic load for periodontitis) was also taken into account in categorizing. Results . According to the currently accepted in Poland clinical classification of periodontal diseases, the following values were obtained: 9.6% of healthy periodontium, 61.9% with gingivitis, 26.5% with chronic periodontitis, 1% with aggressive periodontitis and 1% with periodontitis modified by systemic factors. The occurrence of periododontitis according to classification by Page and Eke was found in 23.1% of people, including 1.6% with a severe form of the disease. Based on the definitions created by Offenbacher et al. the following cases were found: 11.9% of healthy periodontium, 46.8% with gingivitis and 41.3% with periodontitis (0.7% P1, 22.7% P2 and 17.8% P3 respectively). Conclusion . Based on a comparative analysis of the three definitions of periodontitis best estimation of the prevalence of periodontitis in epidemiological studies reflects the definition by Page and Eke. In adult residents of Wroc?aw this turnout was most similar to that described in the contemporary literature in adult Australians.
