摘要

We study properties and representations of the convolution algebra andthe algebra of pseudodifferential operators associated to a continuousfamily groupoid. We show that the study of representations of thealgebras of pseudodifferential operators of order zero completelyreduces to the study of the representations of the ideal ofregularizing operators. This recovers the usual boundedness theoremsfor pseudodifferential operators of order zero. We prove a structuretheorem for the norm completions of these algebras associated togroupoids with invariant filtrations. As a consequence, we obtaincriteria for an operator to be compact or Fredholm. We end with adiscussion of the significance of these results to the index theory ofoperators on certain singular spaces. For example, we give a newapproach to the question of the existence of spectral sections foroperators on coverings of manifolds with boundary. We expect that ourresults will also play a role in the analysis on more general singularspaces.
