Combiningabilitiesofcottonvarietieswereevaluatedusingalinextestermatingdesign,twelvehybridswhichdevelopedfrom3testers(male)and4lines(females).TheexperimentwasconductedonRandomizedCompleteBlockDesign(RCBD)withthreereplicationsduring2014.Thedatawererecordedforplantheight,sympodialplant-1,bollsplant-1,bollweightandseedcottonyieldplant-1.Chandi-95,NIA-UfaqandSadoridisplayedthehighestmeanperformanceandGCAformoreorlessallthetraits,indicatingtheirsuperiorityforinclusioninfuturebreedingprogramme.ThecrossesChandi-95xBT802,SadorixBTA-1,SohnixBTA-1andNIA-UfaqxBT-802manifestedmeaningfullSCAeffectsforeconomictraits,whichcouldbeusedeitherforhybridseedprogrammeordevelopingsuperiorvarietiesbyapplyingselectioninlatesegregatinggenerations.
