The computerized physician order entry system (CPOE) is a system that has the potential to reduce the rate of medication error. Reported advantages of CPOE in comparison to paper based medical record include decreased transcription, increased accuracy and completeness, and the ability to input orders from multiple locations. Still, some physicians prefer the traditional practice of hand written prescriptions. This paper contains a short communication on the subject.
