Objective: To investigate the differences in ultrasonography parameters of benign and malignant thyroid nodules and their correlation with angiogenesis and cell proliferation within the lesions. Methods: A total of 178 patients with thyroid nodules who were screened in this hospital between August 2015 and October 2017 were divided into benign thyroid nodule group (n=146) and thyroid carcinoma group (n=32) according to pathological examination via fine needle aspiration. Two groups of patients received ultrasonography to obtain the relevant parameters, the fluorescence quantitative PCR method was used to detect the expression of genes related to angiogenesis and cell proliferation, and Pearson test was used to evaluate the correlation between thyroid cancer ultrasonography parameters and malignant molecule expression. Results: AUC and Peak levels in thyroid carcinoma group were lower than those in benign thyroid nodule group; angiogenesis-related genes HIF-1 毩 , VEGF, TTF-1, MMP-9 and COX-2 mRNA expression were higher than those in benign thyroid nodule group; cell proliferation-related genes AG490, CCNG2, PP4R1 and TBB mRNA expression were lower than those in benign thyroid nodule group whereas BRD4 and TPX2 mRNA expression were higher than those in benign thyroid nodule group. Pearson test showed that the lesion ultrasonography parameters AUC and Peak levels in patients with thyroid cancer were directly correlated with the expression of genes related to angiogenesis and cancer cell proliferation. Conclusions: The ultrasonography parameter levels of thyroid cancer lesion are abnormal, and the specific abnormal degree is directly correlated with tumor angiogenesis and cell proliferation.
