Case History: We are presenting a case of sevenyear old male with disseminated tuberculosisand infection with Strongyloides stercoralis(S.stercoralis) The patient had severehypoproteinemia and anasarca. S.stercoralis isa helminthic infection. Infection is acquired bywalking bare foot on contaminated soil. Afterinfection the filariform larvae invade the venouscirculation and reach the intestine viarespiratory system. Hyperinfection with thisparasite leads to steatorrhea, oedema ofduodenum, protein losing enteropathy,especially in immunocompromised individual.The patient had disseminated tuberculosisleading to decreased immunity which made thepatient susceptible to hyperinfection withstrongyloides. The patient respondeddramatically to Ivermectin and anti tuberculartreatment. Timely intervention withappropriate drugs may prove to be lifesaving insuch condition.
