Changesinlanduseforhousingindirectlydisturbthehydrologybalanceofthearea.Groundwaterconservationeffortscanbedonebykeepingthefunctionthecatchmentarea.Oneofthehousingdeveloper'sobligationsisprovidingopenspaces(theplayground)toplayoractivityoftheresidents.PlaygroundinBumiGrahaIndahHousing,Jatenvillage,Karanganyardistrict,CentralJava,Indonesiahasafundamentalissue,thatis,intherainyseasonthewaterisdifficulttoseepduelandfillprocessarenotwellplanned.Itcausestheplaygroundbecomeinmuddyconditionswithtallgrass,sothatreducesthefunctionasaplaygroundandoractivitytheresidents.Inthedryseason,thesoildryoflandfillcauseddustscatteringanddisrupttheactivitiesofpeoplearoundtheplayground.Lackofwaterresourcesleadwateringprocessforsolvingtheproblemofdustduringthedryseasonwasconsideredineffective.Structuringdrainagecombinedwithmodifiedrechargewellscanbeusedtocatchwaterrunoffhousing.Thismodificationofwatercatchmentareascanmakeplaygrounddryquicklyafterrainsotheactivitiesofpeoplearenotbotheredwhenutilizingtheopenspaceprovided.Surfacerunoffwaterabsorbedinopenaquifersothatthehydrologicalbalancealwaysbemaintained.Adequacygroundwaterintheareaplaygroundcanbeusedtosprinklerdustandbackupneedscleanwaterresidentsbycreatingwellsandreservoirstocks...
