Thisreviewintroducesrecentdevelopmentsintheapplicationofimageprocessing,computervision,anddeepneuralnetworkstotheanalysisandinterpretationofparticlecollisioneventsattheLargeHadronCollider(LHC).ThelinkbetweenLHCdataanalysisandcomputervisiontechniquesreliesontheconceptofjet-images,buildingonthenotionofaparticlephysicsdetectorasadigitalcameraandtheparticlesitmeasuresasimages.Weshowthatstate-of-the-artimageclassificationtechniquesbasedondeepneuralnetworkarchitecturessignificantlyimprovetheidentificationofhighlyboostedelectroweakparticleswithrespecttoexistingmethods.Furthermore,weintroducenewmethodstovisualizeandinterpretthehighlevelfeatureslearnedbydeepneuralnetworksthatprovidediscriminationbeyondphysics-derivedvariables,addinganewcapabilitytounderstandphysicsandtodesignmorepowerfulclassificationmethodsattheLHC...
