Analysis of Motorcycle Exhaust Emissions via the Taguchi Method

In this study, commercially available 92-Leadfree Gasoline and 95-Leadfree Gasoline of Taiwan's CPC Corporation and Formosa Petrochemical Corporation are used as fuels for locomotive engine testing, in order to discuss the fuels and their combustion characteristics in a four-stroke locomotive engine under different operating conditions, such as different engine speeds. The tests include engine performance, exhaust emissions, etc. Regarding the exhaust sampling, the exhaust of each fuel emitted by engines are directly measured and analyzed in terms of CO, HC, and CO2 by RIKEN KEIKI RI-803. The first part focuses on the variable factors of engine start control under the conditions of engine speed between 500RPM to 1700RPM and engine temperature between 25℃ ?and 40℃? . From the experimental results, we can understand the characteristics of the original engine in terms of its engine start control variable factors, fuel characteristics, and exhaust emissions. (1) engine displacement (CC) (100, 125, 150), (2) engine temperature (℃ ) (25, 30, 35, 40), (3) engine speed (RPM) (500, 800, 1000, 1700), (4) indoor temperature (℃? ) (15, 20, 25, 30). Finally, the Taguchi Method was employed to determine the optimal process combination.?
