Electric field E or electric potential ? plays a keyrole in the transport and turbulence processes intoroidal plasmas by both mean and oscillatorycomponents. It is believed that mean radial E rsuppresses the turbulence eddies via E×B shearingmechanism, while oscillatory E r (zonal flows andGeodesic Acoustic Modes, GAM) provides themechanism of turbulence self-regulation [1].ECRH/ECCD is a powerful tool to affect and tostudy hot plasmas confined in closed magnetic traps,aiming for both basic plasma physics andthermonuclear fusion research [2].
