Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis was diagnosed in 21HIV-negative, nonhospitalized male patients residing innorthern Tunisia. A detailed investigation showed acceler-ated transmission of a Mycobacterium tuberculosis clone ofthe Haarlem type in 90% of all patients.
