摘要

ABSTRACT Saponins are high molecular weight glycosides, consisting of a sugar moiety linked to a triterpene or steroid aglycone. In recent years, they have received considerable attention because of their various biological activities including hepatoprotective, anti-tumor, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory activities. It has been shown that oral administration of some saponins may lead to prevention of hypercholesterolemia, the phenomenon which is the result of complex formation with choles.
