A general review of the subject based on an analysis of 207 cases of neonatal obstruction. That this remains an important problem is indicated by the over-all mortality of 42%. The mortality was 60% in the earlier patients in the series and declined to 30% in recent years. Of particular interest is the experience with 37 cases of meconium ileus. A classification of the causes of intestinal obstruction is given along with considerations of diagnosis and treatment. An abundance of useful references is provided.
