Objectives: identify levels of uncertainty, as well as determine the relationship and effect of uncertainty and perceived stress with the psychological well-being of the main family member of the person dependent on alcohol. Methodology: correlational and transversal quantitative study, the sample consisted of 135 family women of people dependent on alcohol, the instruments used were the Scale of Perception of Uncertainty in Parents and Family Members (PPUS-FM) of Mishel and the Scale of Perceived Stress (PSS), which was designed by Cohen, et al. Results: the total of the participants reported uncertainty, the high uncertainty level predominated (58.5%), through Spearman's bivariate correlation test positive and significant correlation of the uncertainty with the perceived stress was identified (rs = .616, p .01). Using a General Multivariate Linear Regression Model, a negative and significant effect of uncertainty (β = -.413, t = -5.91, p = .001) and perceived stress (β = -.611, t = -11.45, p = .001) on psychological well-being was determined.
