It is said that 'it takesa villageto raiseachild'. Similarly, managing a patient ofthyroid eye disease(TED) needsateameffort.Thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy, unfortunately, does not get theattention it deservesamong ophthalmologists. Thiscomplex,autoimmunedisease has the potentialto cause visualloss, which can rangefrommild to severefunctionalimpairment in terms of diplopiaand strabismus,cosmetic disfigurement,and theresulting emotionalturmoil. In addition to apathy, TEDalso suffers fromalack ofawarenessand standardizedmanagement protocols. It is indeed disheartening to notethateven amongst theresponders ofthis study, majority ofwhomarefellowship-trained(82.4%) bonafide members ofthe OculoplastyAssociation ofIndia, thereisa distinct lack ofconsistency inmanaging these patients.
