We have been researching various forms of possible support for high school biology education from 2016.We conducted a survey of biology teachers at high schools to understand the real situation at schools andto find out what kind of support is needed.As a result, we knew they have problems with equipment,technology, information, ethical rules in using living animals in the high school biological education. In theannual congress of JALAS last May, we presented the current state of the high school biology educationfield for JALAS members and received warm support.To further shape our support plan, we surveyed theexisting support systems and organizations in Japan, and we found many institutions and organizationshave already provided some support for the fostering of future biologists. In this symposium, in order tofurther actualize our support system, high school teachers will talk about the current situation ateducational institutions. Mr. Fujieda from MEXT will introduce the new Courses of Study for biology. Inaddition, UAR's Wendy will introduce the overseas efforts that have achieved many goals and targets ineducational support.In the second half, I would like to discuss the support of high school biology educationbased on these three concrete goals.1. Establishment of a permanent website 2. Support contents1) On-sitetraining 2) Support for review of biological experiment3) Information and technical support 4) Mediation ofcooperation between high school teachers and members of JALAS.3. The creation of guidelines whenusing living animals.
