Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, autoimmune, systemic disease characterized by pain and edema. It can cause bone deformity and affect the occupational performance, consequently the quality of life and the well-being of the subject, and can generate depressive symptoms. This study aimed to know the conceptions of women about the repercussions of rheumatoid arthritis on their emotional state, occupational performance, (AVDS and AIVDS) and on the occupational therapeutic treatment. This is an exploratory descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, carried out in a public hospital in a municipality of the State of Paraíba, with five women with rheumatoid arthritis. Ethical aspects were followed, as recommended by Resolution 466/12 of the National Health Council. Information collection took place in July and August 2018. A semistructured interview and analysis of thematic content were used. Categories emerged: category 1: women report that rheumatoid arthritis has repercussions on their emotional state; category 2: women argue that rheumatoid arthritis interferes with their daily living activities; Category 3: Women report that rheumatoid arthritis affects their instrumental activities of daily living. Category 4: women report the results of care offered by occupational therapy. It has been identified by womens statements that rheumatoid arthritis negatively affects their emotional state, due to the reduction of functional capacity, significantly interfering in their occupational performance.
