To the Editor: The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has created unprecedented challenges for low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) in which health systems are profoundly under-resourced.[1] In subSaharan Africa, the doctor-to-patient ratio is 0.22 per 1 000 compared with 3.57 in Europe and 2.59 in North America.[2] In the context of limited supplies and staff along with a predicted increase in SARSCoV-2 cases, innovation is required.
