—The computer world is experiencing a paradigmshift towards context-aware pervasive computing, wherediverse computer devices communicate with each otherthrough different network access technologies, and allowresource access based on user preferences. P2P computing isan area which will be affected by this new trend. In thispaper, we proposed a resource replication strategy forcontext-aware P2P computing in a pervasive environment.The replication strategy takes an active approach throughusing the resource request rate as the primary metric totrigger the replication process, and then adaptively replicateresources into various configuration states according to theproperties of peers (i.e., terminal capabilities and userpreferences) and the size of peer clusters. Also, the strategyuses peer related information stored on super peers todetermine which peers should be selected to performadaptive replications and where the resulting replicasshould be stored. Simulation results show that the proposedstrategy reduces network delays while increasing resourcehit rate in comparison to commercial super peer P2Psystems and random replication strategies.
