Since the advent of Museums in the 18th century, as public spaces that represented, based on the collections they preserved, the elements and narratives of the identity of the Nation-States, the American Museums will also serve as spaces for the construction of new identity and the strengthening of the nascent States. In this article we take a tour from the beginnings of Museums in Venezuela, their link with the development of archeology and the protection of archaeological collections, which today, due to the political, economic and social situation that we live in, are unknown the importance of these museum institutions are in a serious crisis that endangers the heritage that our museum institutions safeguard.
