Big data analytics (BDA) has emerged as a significant topic among IS academics and IT practitioners. Many universities have established programs related to big data analytics over the last few years and many organizations seem to be rushing as fast as they can to launch BDA applications. As Richardson, Petter, and Carter (2021) point out, however, potentially negative and unforeseen effects related to usingBDA exist. They worry that applications for BDA continue to grow so quickly that organizations implementthem “incautiously”.
