Futurologists in the last two decades of the twentieth century predicted a world of greater leisure time, in which most of us would work or study at home with no need to go to offices or places of learning.rnThey have been proved right, up to a point. Technology has indeed increased hugely the potential for work at home; executives can spend days employed fruitfully without going near an office, and e-learning has had a similarly revolutionary effect on education.rnThe University of Glamorgan undertook a large-scale collaborative e-learning project in 2001 -2005. E-College Wales (ECW) was one of the first and largest of its kind in Europe. Data collection involved focus groups, questionnaires and observation, and all stakeholders were encouraged to reflect critically on their experiences and identify the major challenges behind e-learning.
