It is dawn, and you and your fiancee are taking a romantic stroll along fifth Avenue in New York City. You suddenly come upon an ultramodern sculpture. The sculptor has outdone himself this time by coiling a transparent spiral tube one mile in length around the Empire State Building! "Shall we give it a try?" your fiancee says to you. "Try?" you ask. "I think we're supposed to crawl through the tube to enjoy the view. Try it. I'll wait for you." You give your sweetheart a nervous look before entering the tube. You start at the entrance of the spiral at 5 A.M. and crawl until you reach the other outlet of the spiral at 5 P.M. You travel at varying speeds, and every now and then you pause, rest, and eat some of the candy bar in your pocket.
