摘要

The most common complications of a long-term type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) include the neurode-generative diseases and dysfunctions of the cardiovascular and reproductive systems . However, in the case of type 1 diabetes, these complications occur relatively rapidly as a result of the combined effect of acute insulin deficiency and severe hyperglycemia, whereas in type 2 diabetes, the main pathogenetic factor of which is the resistance of tissues to insulin, complications develop much more slowly and manifest themselves much later. To study the etiology and pathogenesis of complications of type 2 diabetes, prolonged animal models of this disease are required.
