A compound from Belzona Polymerics of the UK has been used to ensure a boiler aboard a trailing suction hopper dredger will remain secure, even when subjected to aggressive vibration. Owned and operated by Tees & Hartlepool Port Authority, the 1,530 m~3 TSHD Cleveland County had the new boiler installed next to the engine room. "Due to this proximity, the operator required the chocking system to have exceptional impact resistance in order to withstand constant vibration from the engines," Belzona technical service engineer Henry Smith explained to IHS DPC.
