German specialist SAL Heavy Lift entered the offshore renewables market at the end of 2014, transporting and installing test piles and equipment for the Wikinger wind farm in the Baltic Sea. The first phase of the pile testing campaign was launched after the Wikinger site's geotechnical investigation was completed, with SAL winning the contract from German engineering and services group Bilfinger and deploying the DP Class Ⅱ vessel Lone.
