Qatar Crown Prince Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani laid the foundation stone for the first phase of the 25.6Bn riyal ($7Bn) New Doha Port in Mesaieed on 10 October.Phase one should come on stream in 2016 and the huge port will be completed in two further phases, the second and third scheduled to start in 2020 and 2030 respectively. The finished port will cover 26.5km~2, have a cargo-handling capacity of 6M teu, be equipped to handle the world's biggest ships and will be among the world's largest deepwater ports.
