"Traditional topographic methods are labour-intensive, while LIDAR JL surveys are very costly," a QPS spokesman told DPC "Both methods have the same result - the area above the waterline is never surveyed as extensively or in as much detail as the underwater part of the same area." But all that has changed with the introduction of high-definition laser scanners. They represent a real breakthrough in topographic surveying.
