In Table 1 we give some editorial statistics on 1 October 2008 for the last five years. They show not only a substantial increase in the number of submissions, but also a substantial increase in the number of rejections. All too often we see that submitted manuscripts do not match with the journal profile, and in many cases they address very detailed and very specialized statistical problems. On the other hand, it is a good sign that academics perceive Statistica Neerlandica as a favorable outlet. Our impact factor is rather volatile, and analysis shows that it is mainly due to a few articles per year that make it into the citation lists. Special issue articles are the most often cited.
