摘要

Among natural water systems, land surface waters have been least studied with respect to their elemental composition. The available works with data on the concentration of elements in natural waters are mostly dedicated to the description of individual water objects. In various general reviews, minimal and maximal values show concentration differences of several orders of magnitude. The complexity involved in the integral estimation of the elemental composition of land surface waters is primarily related to the numerous natural (climatic, lithological, morphometric, hydrological, biological, and so on) factors that govern their chemical properties. At the same time, contents of elements in the Earth's crust are no less variable, but their averaged ratios have been established for both individual rock types and the crust as a whole. They have also been determined for seawater.
