摘要

Since its creation in 1995, the Universal Serial Bus (USB) has developed into a de-facto standard for connecting peripheral devices to personal computers. The widespread adoption of USB makes it highly attractive as an external bus expansion and connectivity technology for embedded systems. By incorporating USB host, embedded products such as testing equipment can now interface with the readily available, low cost USB peripherals such as keyboards, mice and printers. The proliferation of mobile devices will further drive the demand for USB host in the form of dual role devices capable of operating as USB host or peripheral (slave). Dual role devices allow traditional USB peripherals such as a PDA and a printer to com-municate with each other directly without a PC.
